Digital Lock Price in Malaysia (2026): What You Really Pay, Installed

Avant Guard digital door locks on a showroom display stand

Digital lock prices in Malaysia swing wildly: from under RM300 on marketplaces to well over RM3,000 in showrooms. The sticker price alone tells you very little. What you are really paying for is the right lock for your door, installed properly, with someone to call when something goes wrong. Here is what each price level gets you in 2026, using Avant Guard’s current range as a reference.

What changes as the price goes up

Around RM900–RM1,300: reliable everyday locks

Semi-automatic locks with fingerprint, PIN, card and a backup key. You lift the handle to lock. They run on AA batteries for about 6–9 months and suit most condo main doors, rentals and room doors. If you just want to stop carrying keys, this is the sweet spot.

Around RM1,500–RM2,000: fully automatic and biometric

The lock throws its bolt by itself the moment the door closes, so you never forget to lock up. Many models in this band add palm vein and face recognition, and use a rechargeable lithium battery you top up with a USB-C cable.

RM2,000 and above: flagship design and features

Premium finishes, extra sensors and more design options to match a feature door.

Why some digital locks cost RM300

Very cheap locks usually leave out things you only notice later:

  • No installation. Fitting a mortise lock means cutting the door accurately. A poor fit causes jamming and battery drain.
  • Weaker mortise and cylinder. Ask for 304 stainless steel and the cylinder grade.
  • No local warranty or spare parts. When a motor or keypad fails in year two, who fixes it?
  • Cloud-only apps. If the app’s servers go down, so do your remote functions.

Hidden and running costs to ask about

  • Batteries: AA batteries a couple of times a year, or a replacement lithium pack (ours are RM150) after a few years.
  • Extra access cards: RM20 each.
  • Door modification: unusual doors (very thin, glass, double-leaf) may need extra work. A photo before purchase avoids surprises.
  • Outstation installation: may carry a travel charge; confirm upfront.
  • Remote access hardware: Bluetooth locks work without internet; add a small gateway only if you want to unlock from outside the house.

Our honest recommendation

Spend on the door first, features second. A correctly installed RM899 lock beats a badly fitted RM3,000 one. If you want help choosing, read our digital door lock buyer’s guide, check our door measuring guide, or browse the full smart lock range.
